Verified Purchase. I purchased this book in order to advance my knowledge with excel. I want to learn more advanced topics using excel. The text is easy to follow and starts off with the basics which I expected and I am perfectly comfortable with.
The textbook often refers to spreadsheets needed to perform the exercises described in the book. A serious downside for this purchase has been the customer service from the publisher. I have asked the publisher for help toward obtaining the excel documents three times now 2 emails and one phone call. The phone call lasted 33 minutes and I was on hold for approx. Their website is NOT easy to navigate for help and my first written request for help was punted back to me telling me to contact another department without providing clear direction for how to contact the other department.
I already described the length of the call above. While they were nice on the phone I doubted the sincerity in their promise in getting me the information I required in order to enhance my training using their textbook.
NOT enough time to even get it there. One person found this helpful. The best part about this textbook is it's hands-on style. If you learn by doing, the format is great! The instructor sets the due dates and assignments, but outside of that, it is possible to work on each of the chapters and do just fine without much guidance. I wish there were a ranking system for textbooks that indicated the type of learning style that is most strongly supported.
Maybe one of the future users of this textbook will come up with a system. I was pleased with the opportunities the good has to offer modern Homo-sapiens on earth. My desires have continued in the realm of Microsoft and computer applications that are comprehensive and spread further into my future on earth.
I have six stars I received my book in time But at the time of purchase I disnt realize it didn't come with the access card.. I should have notice. Really liked this book and the class I took with it. Pretty easy to fallow. Doesn't mean it didn't get hard But it was fun. I was happy and the book was in good condition. This is probably the only way to learn this piece of software. It goes step by step on how to do things. The course requires you to buy the text because the assignment questions only reference text pages which is really stupid on the part of the course or school. The text itself has A LOT of publisher typos and is a bit shameful actually considering it's a text used throughout all north american universities. The editors and publishers should get their act together and actually review the material before publishing it with the mistakes.
I spotted one mistake the first day of class in the case problems. What can we do as broke helpless students suckered into buying this crap for outrageous prices? I got this book because it was a cheaper version of what I needed for school. The pages are black and white which is ok because it was cheaper, but it's missing some pages. It skipped from page something to something. Because of that I missed some stuff on the class.
