If a different tab is displayed, go to Backups tab:. Click Clean up:. After specifying the necessary cleanup parameters, click Clean up now. The previous procedure will clean up backup versions, created by one particular backup task. If you have many of them, consider a global cleanup that would run over all not password-protected backups under your Acronis account. Backups with password will have to be cleaned up one-by-one.
Encrypted backups will be excluded from the account cleanup. Then click Yes to confirm the operation. If you want to wipe out all backup versions, but preserve backup settings and schedule, delete the backup via Acronis Cloud web application. Note that as there would be no backup versions after that, the backup task would start uploading everything from scratch to the Cloud, consuming Internet traffic and time.
This can be done via a web browser from any device, even if Acronis True Image is not installed on it. Click Delete:. The backup will be gone from Acronis Cloud, but all the settings and schedule will remain in Acronis True Image software application.
Next time the backup task starts, it will start uploading the data, selected as backup source, to Acronis Cloud, from scratch. This limits the usage of this method of Acronis Cloud cleanup to a very specific cases, for example, when the backup size is relatively small, or when Acronis True Image software is not installed or not accessible. To avoid filling the entire Cloud Storage it is recommended to set up automatic Cloud cleanup in backup options so that old versions of the backup are deleted automatically according to the rules that you specify.
You can also select the Delete versions that are older than check box and enter a value that limits the maximum age of the older versions.
All other versions will be automatically deleted except the most recent versions. If you need more Cloud storage, see Acronis True Image: how to purchase more cloud storage.

Retention scheme depends on the backup scheme. Retention rules are effective if the archive contains more than one backup. The last backup in the archive will be kept even if a retention rule violation is detected. Retention rules cannot be applied when using simplified archive naming.
Instead you can use batch files for managing backup files. Note: last backup in archive will not be deleted even if it meets the retention rules conditions. After you create the task, you can check it in the settings of your plan: the plan consists of four tasks - three backup tasks for backups of different type and a cleanup tasks for applying retention rules:. The retention rules logic assumes that the storage device capacity is much more than the average backup size and the maximum archive size does not come close to the physical storage capacity, but leaves a reasonable reserve e.
